$250 Daily Sweepstakes Winner – Twinx1986

MeCould you use $250? Enter now for a chance to win some cash! See what Twinx1986 had to say about her recent win:

I am crying here.  I REALLY NEED this money.  I have been very happy with all aspects of your website and love playing especially Chachingo Bingo and the Deal Or No Deal slots.

This is my 31st year as a secretary, which has directly coincided with my 31st year involved in animal rescue.  I have done every aspect with my own money and everything I do and work toward is to continue assisting abused and abandoned animals.  Every single week, I am gathering cans and bottles to earn even a few dollars extra; all of which I turn around to purchase desperately needed extra food and supplies for the animals.  I maintain two feral cat colonies and adopt terminally ill and abused cats.  I am constantly at my veterinarian’s office on a weekly basis.

I cannot tell you how appreciative I am to have been fortunate enough to win this sorely-needed money.  Thank you on behalf of Connecticut’s stray and abandoned animals.

  2. Congratulations Twinx1986 on your win.
By the sounds of it every last cent will be stretched far and wide.
Use to live on a farm and amazing how people would just “drop off” animals.
Nice Ct. still has .05 cent bottle return. Amazing also how many people just literally throw that money out the window or in the trash can!
It’s a heartbreaking task for sure and you sound very committed to the cause indeed!

  3. You are very pretty and passionate about your cause.
You say you take care of 2 cat colonies, are you also having them nutered so the colony don’t outgrow itself?
We have a very nice animal rescue here in Noble, Ok.
Good lucjk with your project, Hope it don’t interfere with your personal life.

  4. DEAR TWINX86,
WHEN I WAS YOUNG AND HEALTHY I TOO USED TO TAKE IN THE STRAYS AND ABUSED ANIMALS WHICH SADLY NO ONE ELSE WANTED AND CONSEQUENTLY, I AM VERY EMPATHIC TO YOUR CAUSE. WHILE I AM NO LONGER ABLE TO CARE FOR THE POOR CREATURES, I WOULD LIKE TO HELP YOU FINANCIALLY. I REALIZE WE ARE NOT PERMITTED TO GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION ON THIS SITE, BUT I WAS THINKING THAT IF WE CAN CONNECT ON FACE BOOK, SURELY THERE MUST BE A WAY WE CAN CONTACT ONE ANOTHER? AS A SECRETARY, I AM SURE YOU ARE MUCH MORE COMPUTER LITERATE THAN I AM . YOU CAN FIND ME ON THE FACE BOOK SITE HERE AND ADVISE ME HOW WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO GO ABOUT THIS, IF INDEED YOU ARE INTERESTED. MY NAME IS PAM BARLETTA . I’M PRETTY EASY TO IDENTIFY SINCE I TYPE IN ALL CAPS DUE TO MY EYE DIFFICULTIES. GOD BE WITH YOU AND BLESS YOU FOR YOUR GENTLE HEART AND LOVING NATURE.
    MOST SINCERELY,
PAM (BTW, I AM A POET AND WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THE FOLLOWING WITH YOU)

    INSTINCT

The young buck comes daily now
chewing the grass and leftover summer,
moving heedlessly along my wooden deck
where I can watch through the sliding glass doors
and catch the sight of simple joy’s delight
and wish my arm was long enough
to stroke his sleek maple-syrup skin.

Today he carried a cruel gash upon his back,
from the rut or man’s barbed wire?
It set my heart afire to see,
yet he licked the wound just once
without complaining, only to continue grazing.

So close he was that my heart stilled
and I nearly thought he would, this day,
take the three short steps up
to grace my deck with his majesty.

We gazed into each others eyes,
    deep brown on green, wordlessly;
    my mind begging invitation,
    while his searched cautiously
and with a bit of curiosity.

    Then suddenly, his back gave a quiver;
instinct reigned and he moved on.
He was after all a creature,
    and my soundless human antiphon;
the telepathic psalm which may have
stayed his hesitation in the Garden of Eden,
but now without choice, had to pass me by
to instinct necessary for his preservation.

I watched both grievously and gratefully,
hoping for our eyes to meet again tomorrow.

  7. Dear Twinx1986,
Congrats on your win! It couldn’t have happened to a better person! My husband & I also help animals, mostly cats, so I know what you’re going through. I’m disabled & my husband had colon cancer last year so we can’t do as much as we use to do with no income. We were both denied our social security & the appeals won’t be looked at for 14 months & he was left with neuropathy in his hands, legs & feet from the Chemo that may never go away so he hasn’t been able to go back to work. Luckily our humane society here runs a free spay/neuter program for stray & feral cats. We live in a trailer park now & like farms, people just drop off cats all the time! It’s sick how people can be so cruel! Recently someone dropped one off that had FIV, & it was in the pouring rain. Poor thing didn’t have a clue what to do & was so scared he just sat on a neighbor’s porch & cried. We got him & took him in to be neutered. They also test for FIV, give rabies shots & cut the tip off one ear so if they get caught again everyone knows they’ve already been spayed/neutered. When he tested positive for FIV we found him a spot in a no kill shelter with a special room for FIV kitties. Since then God found him a new owner who knows about FIV kitties & wants to give him a good life. He was such a sweet cat, how anyone could throw him away is beyond me, especially with a very contagious horrible disease that he could have spread to hundreds of other cats! That just makes me sick! Thank God we got to him before he joined the cat colony here. You should check to see if any of the shelters in your area have such a program & if not maybe you could get them to start one. They can contact the Harrisburg Area Humane Society in PA to find out how they are running this program. It has been a Godsend to central PA & has really helped to keep the cat colony populations from getting out of hand & tipping the ear has helped all of us stay on top of who is fixed & who isn’t, making our jobs a lot easier!
Also, I found a fantastic & cheap way to fix urinary tract infections! It’s one of the most common reasons cats are taken to the vets office & one of the biggest reasons why people throw cats away because it causes cats to stop using the litter box. Vets won’t tell you about it even if they know because they make a lot of money from it! Very few UTI’s are actually infections so antibiotics only relieve some of the symptoms, like swelling, allowing the cat to pee but the problem will usually come back, & meanwhile the cat is still in pain even though they won’t show it. Use organic apple cider vinegar! Yes, it sounds weird, but it works like a charm! Mind you, cats hate vinegar! They will not take it willingly! You may get away with mixing a 1/4 tsp into a can of catfood but if they smell it they won’t eat it. I mix a 1/4 to a 1/2 tsp with a 1/4 tsp water & give it in an eyedropper or syringe. When you give it to them it will make them foam at the mouth a lot. It’s okay, it won’t hurt them! Just don’t lay them back or it could go in their lungs & you don’t want that. Keep them upright & hold on to them tight! Clipping their claws first is a good idea. Some people mix it with more water but I’ve found that the more liquid you try to get them to take the harder it is on you & the cat, so I keep it down to one or two eyedroppers full per dose. I’ve found that within 30 minutes of the first dose they are usually able to pee at least a little bit. I give another dose in about 2-3 hours & repeat that for the rest of the day & then give 3 to 4 doses a day for about 5-7 days to completely clear it up. VERY IMPORTANT! If your cat is not getting ANY pee out at all for more than 24 hours then you MUST GET THEM TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY! A cat will die if they can’t pee at all for 24-48 hours! Toxins will back up into kidneys & all organs will start to fail & their bladder will burst & the cat will die an extremely painful death! Have your vet put a needle into their bladder and drain the pee out that way! It will relieve a lot of the cats pain & will give you & your vet more time to fix the blockage & yes, your cat will need pain meds! For some reason some vets don’t give cats pain meds. Cats are extremely stoic animals & will not show pain at all if they can help it!
Organic apple cider vinegar will dissolve the crystals that cause UTI’s in both cats & dogs. It is very safe & will not harm your pet in any way. The foaming at the mouth is caused by the difference in PH between the vinegar & the animals saliva. It may freak you & your pet out a bit but it’s okay, it won’t hurt them, or you! Just have several paper towels within reach when you give it to your pet. If your pet won’t open it’s mouth just move the gums & put the eyedropper against the teeth near the back & squeeze slowly. The liquid will go between the teeth itself. Then hold their mouth shut for a few seconds until they swallow, then mop up the foam until it stops. Be very loving to the cat when you do this. Don’t get mad at them! They won’t understand why & it will hurt your relationship with your cat, especially since you will have to do it several times till the UTI is completely cleared up.
UTI’s in cats are usually caused by their food. Don’t let the pet food companies fool you! Cats are the only obligate carnivores on the planet! That means they do not eat plant products at all for nutritional value. They don’t even have the enzymes & bacteria in their stomachs to be able to digest plants, including vegetables & grains! They only use plants for medicinal purposes, like catnip which aids in digestion. The veggies they put in the food are nothing but filler with the added benefit to the pet food company of making cat owners think they are doing good for their cats when they really aren’t! It’s the grain & other things in the food that cause the crystals to form which causes UTI”s. Grain free food will keep your cat from getting UTI’s. I have 12 indoor cats plus some feral cats I feed outside. The organic apple cider vinegar worked for all my cats with UTI’s & since I have switched to grain free food none of our cats have had any UTI’s, plus their coats & eyes look better & their behavior is better. They don’t fight or pick on each other anymore, they’re all using the litter boxes faithfully & no more runny poops. They also seem more affectionate than before. We switched to Taste of the Wild grain free dry food. It’s half the cost of most other grain free foods & has really helped our cats get healthy.
Good luck & God bless you for all you are doing for His animals! I hope this apple cider vinegar trick helps to save you some money & some trips to the vets!
Thank you & keep up the great work!

    • Thank you Tracey for sharing much needed information and for all you do for animals. I switched to Taste of the Wild too for both my cats and dog.

      • I think pet food makers are getting rich while making our pets sick. I can’t trust foods with fillers or made in China for sure.

  8. Thank you for all you do to help animals. I have 3 cats and a dog. Two of the cats and the dog came from shelters and the one cat was an abandoned kitten I fed with a syringe. I’m so glad you won and that this money will go to both a good person and a good cause!

  9. I wish I knew of a home remidey for GUM Disease for a DOG. For I can’t afford to take him to a vet. I don’t have any money. On Provincial Government Funds.Yes any kind of help would be nice now.

    • My dogs had dental issues, and one has had so many surgeries that I can’t have her put under for a cleaning. I tried a lot of dental bones but they were expensive and not very effective. At Walmart here in Canada, I found large bags of small chipped rawhide sticks for about $10. My dogs were barfing up the non-chipped rawhide, partly intact. They took to these, and with 1-3 a day each, their teeth stay in pretty good condition. The product is Canine Chews. Maybe you can find something like it in your area. Best wishes and good luck.

  10. What a wonderful person you are…..We know all about throw away pets….we live on a lake and we now have 18 kitties that other people didn’t want. We have had every one of them fixed, and they are all a beautiful blessing……God bless you and your caring heart…..
